Recent Hope Delivered ~ July – August 2026

July and August Impact

Through our online request system, donors helped fund urgent, specific needs for local neighbors throughout July and August.

Note: Theresa was out sick for 2.5 weeks in August due to illness, so our metric declined during that time. Now that she is back, we expect our numbers to keep duplicating month to month!

$3,176.52 Raised in July
$2,292.43 Raised in August
$5,309.00 Total Direct-Request Funding
$324.86 General Donations

Direct-request totals include only money recorded through fulfilled online requests or general donations made through our donation system. They do not include directly donated goods, volunteer deliveries, resource coordination, résumé and application assistance, or the many hours of personal support provided behind the scenes. Only $324.86 was donated toward operations/gas/other during this period. Additional operating support is urgently needed to help cover coordinator time, website costs, outreach, transportation, and the behind-the-scenes work required to keep these services available.

Every photo below represents a real local need that was met through community support. Some requests were funded through small donations, while others were fulfilled through donated goods, volunteer deliveries, or direct assistance.

Website visitors help by connecting them to local resources ~ July/August

Since launching in April 2026, Red Bird’s website has seen remarkable early growth. Since April, traffic has increased to 3,368 visitors and is up 95% since May/June, with 9,662 pageviews, up 117% over the previous impact period. This rapid increase shows that more people are discovering us while searching for help with local urgent needs, engaging with our mission, and connecting with opportunities to help neighbors in the community. The grand majority of our traffic comes from Google and Facebook.

July and August 2026: Meeting Urgent Needs, One Neighbor at a Time

During July and August, The Red Bird Foundation’s online request system continued connecting local donors with neighbors facing immediate and often deeply personal hardships.

Through 56 fulfilled online requests through our website, and many more through Facebook coordination, and Wishlist donated goods through our Sponsor-A-Neighbor-Program. Community support helped provide food, baby formula, diapers, hygiene and incontinence supplies, medications, medical necessities, transportation, gasoline, work shoes, bicycles, beds, school supplies, clothing, pet food, tents, hotel rooms, and other essential assistance.

Several requests came from working parents who found themselves caught between paychecks after paying rent, utilities, medical expenses, or back-to-school costs. Small amounts of assistance helped parents feed their children, wash school clothing, obtain a birth certificate needed for kindergarten, purchase required work shoes, and put enough gas in the car to continue working or get their children to school.

Other requests involved people living outside or experiencing sudden homelessness. Community members helped provide tents, temporary hotel stays, transportation, food, and safer places to rest. This included assistance for a pregnant woman sleeping outside, a mother and child sleeping in a U-Haul after an eviction, an elderly woman with a heart condition exposed to extreme heat, and individuals working to rebuild their lives through sober living and recovery programs.

Health and disability-related needs were also significant. Donors helped provide medication after an emergency-room visit, a rolling walker for an elderly woman with limited mobility, underpads and incontinence supplies for people with severe disabilities, healthy food for a bedbound stroke survivor, and emergency health and nutrition supplies for a homeless woman experiencing serious medical and mental health challenges.

Eleven fulfilled requests included donated goods, either by themselves or alongside monetary support. These contributions included beds, bicycles, mobility equipment, baby formula, a Pack&Play, school clothing, medical supplies, pet necessities, and outdoor shelter items.

As in previous months, the requests shown on our website represent only part of Red Bird’s work.

Additional help was provided quietly through phone calls, messages, mentorship, items donated to RedBird, transportation and transportation coordination, resource referrals, and direct assistance that was never entered into the online request system.

July and August demonstrated how quickly an ordinary setback can become a crisis. A hospitalization, broken vehicle, delayed paycheck, interrupted SNAP benefits, eviction, or unexpected utility bill can leave a family without food, transportation, medicine, or a safe place to sleep.

Through small gifts, donated goods, and neighbors willing to respond, our community helped people move through those moments with greater safety, dignity, and hope.
