A working phone or laptop can help someone keep a job, return to school, and stay connected to help.

The Red Bird Foundation welcomes personal and bulk donations of working smartphones and laptops. Donated devices can help replace damaged phones needed for employment, give homeless individuals internet access through local Wi-Fi, and help students and job seekers access school, email, applications, and essential resources.

Smartphones can also help people use free apps like TextNow for calling and texting, giving them a working phone number to use for jobs and support services. Laptops can help people return to digital work such as coding, online marketing, web design, graphic design, customer support, and other computer-based fields.

What We Accept

  • Working smartphones, locked or unlocked
  • Working laptops
  • Chargers when available

Slightly cracked screens may be acceptable if the device still works and remains usable.

Device Requirements

Phones must:

  • power on and work properly
  • connect to Wi-Fi
  • support current apps and a current or still-supported operating system

Laptops must:

  • power on and work properly
  • be Windows 10 or newer, or a comparable supported Mac system
  • be usable for school, job searching, or work

If a laptop no longer has internal Wi-Fi, we may still be able to use it with an external USB Wi-Fi adapter.

How Donations Work

We welcome:

  • Personal donations shipped to us
  • Bulk shipments of donations from businesses, churches, schools, and community partners
  • Local laptop drop-offs when arranged in advance

Several smartphones can often be shipped together easily, making bulk donations a practical way to help.

Before Donating

Please remove personal files and accounts, factory reset the device if possible, and include a charger if you have one.
