Randy’s Grand Adventure to the DMV

Today we took Randy to the DMV. Due to the heat and the bus in Summerville not going from point A to B, we offered to take Randy to the DMV to finally get his ID. He has not had an ID for a long time, and this will allow us to help him to get Emergency SNAP benefits, his Social Security Card, file for early Social Security Retirement benefits, and hopefully get him into a room for rent and out of the harshness of the street and elements soon.

His first mission was to hold on to a backpack for a week. While he did manage to hold on to the backpack, people did manage to steal some of his things while asleep. Randy sleeps outside behind buildings at night. There is a large homeless population in this area, and until we can help all of them, there will be theft. We are getting him some luggage locks to help with this. We are also waiting for an instant pop-up tent, and his next mission is to hold on to that.

To enter the program, he had to get his ID, and he did today. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU, RANDY!!!!
